CORPUS CHRISTI - Officers responded to a shooting in the 3500 block of Santa Fe Drive and contacted Lone Star Auto Adjusters employee, 30-year-old Jessie Hernandez Jr., who reported he was repossessing a gold Toyota Tundra when the owner 40-year-old Jay McCorkle exited the residence and jumped unto the driver's side of the wrecker.

McCorkle thrust a handgun to Hernandez's head and threatened to shoot him. Hernandez grabbed the handgun and a struggle ensued.

The handgun discharged during the struggle and McCorkle was struck by the single gunshot.

McCorkle fell back and released the gun.

Hernandez drove down the street and waited for the officers to arrive.

Hernandez turned the handgun over to officers.

McCorkle was transported to Spohn Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

McCorkle was medically cleared and transported to the police department for questioning.

McCorkle was arrested and booked at the CDC. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
