Getting paid to turn in a car for a repo company

Hello,

I work in real estate - I spend alot of time driving neighborhoods and from time to time I come across abandoned vehicles in front of abandoned houses.

A couple of questions (one's a 3 parter):
* How do I find out if any of these cars need to have a repo completed? Can you start with the license plate or do you need to open the door to get the VIN? Is there any other way of getting the VIN if you can't get inside the car?
* I heard that these can be turned into a repo company for cash - how do I go about doing that?
